Another very busy weekend completed, I'm looking forward to time
this afternoon with grandson Jack. Patty spent Thursday - Saturday at Chautauqua with several deacon's wives on a "make your own retreat" weekend. On Saturday, I presided at a memorial service in Bath and a wedding in Corning before cantoring at the 4 p.m. Mass back in Bath. Pat
returned home on Saturday evening so I rejoined her for the night in Corning but drove to Bath for Sunday Mass.
Can the price of gasoline go any higher? Its $3.14 - 3.19 in Corning. It's 22 miles to Bath from Corning which means I drove about 176 miles this weekend. I'm paying about $6 for gas each time I make the round trip. I figure I spent roughly $48 on gas just this weekend. I don't know how the real commuters in big cities do it.
Enough complaining. Life is good and God is great. I pray that your week is truly blest.
My column this week speaks of a unique form of generosity and stewardship that has been demonstrated by Warren Buffet, who financially is the second richest man in the world. When I found this story, I was profoundly touched by it. Perhaps you will be too.

Over the years, God has blessed me with many wonderful opportunites to
minister. As a Roman Catholic permanent deacon of the Diocese of
Rochester, New York, (ordained 1982), I have served in a wide variety
of ministries. Whether I am ministering to my parish, hospitals, nursing homes, prisons, travel or retreat groups (e.g. Cursillo, Walk
to Emmaus, Koiniania, Pre Cana, Youth) - music has played an important
role in opening doors and hearts.
This website is an
extension of that ministry. Here you'll find the lyrics to many of my
prayer-songs and, if you like, purchase from a collection of CDs I've recorded.
There's also information about tours and pilgrimages that my wife Pat and I
occasionally host and links to web sites I've found interesting.
