Dear friends in life and in ministry,
Sunday after Mass, Patty kidnapped me, dragged me to the car and has hidden me at the Rochester Radisson until Wednesday. She has learned that their is little short of kidnapping that will keep me out of the office. As it is, its about 11:30 p.m. on Monday evening and I've just finished next Sunday's bulletin courtesy of the WI Fi router in the Radisson Reception area.
This afternoon we saw the film "Good Night and Good Luck". I recommend it highly. Its a good reminder of a time when disagreeing with the government could be considered unpatriotic. Humph.
Following my column this week, I', including the memories and reflections of our teens who attended the National Catholic Youth Conference. Some pretty good stuff.
Blessings to all . . .

Last weekend’s Masses offered a glimpse at the way our parish ministers to people in different ways at different stages of life. On Wednesday night we celebrated our annual Memorial Mass remembering parishioners and loved ones who have been called home to the Lord during the past year by reading their names, tolling chimes and lighting candles. Many family members told me how touched they were by this special Mass. Thanks to our Choir, Bell Choir and Resurrection Assembly for lending their presence and to our Bereavement Luncheon Volunteers for the ministry they perform throughout the year. I was also pleased that both Fr, Frank Erb and Fr. John Wydeven could be present for this Mass.
On Sunday, we belatedly celebrated World Youth Day and our own young people with a Mass in their honor. The Hands of Christ Award was presented to three high school seniors Justin Harris, James McKinley and Colleen Sheehan, our Children of God Assembly filled our liturgical roles and a special blessing was imparted on our youth.
Thanks to our Youth Minister and Faith Formation Coordinator Mary Carol Wall, our catechists, adult youth group volunteers and all who share the gift of faith with our young people.
Baptisms were celebrated at both Saturday and Sunday Masses last weekend.
As our liturgical year comes to an end, we will celebrate baptism at many weekend Masses. I hope that you agree that we are privileged to experience Baptisms at Mass. They demonstrate our vitality as a parish and, in some cases serve as a welcome home and welcome to our parish to young families.
We pray that all of these families will worship weekly with us and become active in the spiritual and social life of our parish. During this year our theme reminds us that We Are Family! Our activities will include several Family Masses, the institution of a new Youth Group for our younger children and soon a weekly Children’s Liturgy of the Word.
Congratulations to the families of William Arthur Whaley and Brodyn Christopher Baldwin baptized last weekend, and to soon to be baptized Noah Daniel Dieg (November 27), Julia Grace Saurbaugh (November 19), Grace Lynne Stuart (November 20), Alexis Isabelle Orcutt (November 24) and Lucas Todd Hyer (November 26).
This weekend several of our young people and adult pilgrims share their memories of their recent trip to the National Catholic Youth Conference in Atlanta. Last week in this column I shared my thoughts on the NCYC experience. Now I look forward to the comments of others.
Have a good week. Serve one another well.
